CAKES FOR A CAUSE
Cakes for a cause is a student run business with the goal to spread awareness and raise money for the underprivileged youth in the Cambodian Child Rescue Centers by baking and delivering artisanal cakes and cupcakes. With the fund collected over the past year, we were able to send two Cambodian students to college which was a big accomplishment and milestone for all of us. With your support and contributions, we hope to grow our team to ultimately help more students in need! Follow us on Instagram @Sims.sweets or Facebook @Sim's sweets for more information.
We invite you to donate to our cause and help us reach greater heights. Please email simsweeets1@gmail.com
FEEDING HONG KONG
The HKIS Feeding Hong Kong club is an SOS Local Service Club that strives to reduce the amount of food waste going to landfills by introducing Bread Runs and Food Drives to raise awareness about food insecurity and redistribute non-perishable food products to the greater Hong Kong community. We have held Hong Kong Educational and Advocacy webinar conferences as a way to raise awareness about food insecurity where speakers from the FHK headquarters gave inspirational talks about their purpose in helping our community through their work in Feeding Hong Kong. Our main events are our annual Food Drives and monthly Bread Runs. The food products that are collected during these initiatives are distributed first thing in the morning to charities across the city. Our most successful event this school year was our Festive Food Drive. By collaborating with the other SOS service clubs and our Middle School partners, we were able to partake in a donation that exceeded more than 10 tonnes of food in total, enough to support more than 23,800 meals for charities around Hong Kong.
Should you be interested in donating to their cause, please email hkisfeedinghongkong@gmail.com
FOR GIRLS CLUB
Period Poverty is a global humanitarian and economic crisis where girls and women are denied opportunities, because of their lack of ability to safely manage their periods. With the inadequate availability of clean water and hygiene in many schools, girls are forced to miss out on their education. In the larger context, however, this is also a matter of human dignity. For many of us, this issue is something we never think about as we re blessed to be in an environment where we have access to tools for managing our periods safely.
Our "For Girls Club" aims to help out girls in Cambodia struggling from Period Poverty by raising funds through selling organic Kampot peppers. Our goal is to raise awareness about Period Poverty and funds to help girls and women in Cambodia to have improved access to safe menstrual hygiene management. Two of our main initiatives include the Pepper Project and Period Product Donation Drive hosted in May. Since 2019, through Service and advocacy, using the profits raised from selling peppers, For Girls has donated to help contribute toward the building of a latrine in Cambodia and funding menstrual supplies for girls in Cambodia.
With your support by raising awareness about this issue and buying our peppers, we hope to continue to fund menstrual supplies in Cambodia as well as raise enough funds to help build another latrine with clean water facilities.
